The artist outpostMy internship is at the Artist outpost which is an art studio located in Ocean Beach. I am very excited to start my internship. One of my hopes is to learn new skills and techniques on the wheel, I love working on the wheel but im starting to run out of ideas for what I want to create. So I hope to learn how to improve my skills and creativity. My dream for the end of the internship is to learn more about glazing and be able to add designs to pieces. Glazing can be really difficult which makes it harder to add designs to pieces but I know if I put the work in I will be able to do it. One fear I have is that I won't be able to have enough time to throw a piece I will be proud of, ceramics is not easy and something that goes with that is unexpected outcomes such as your piece getting off center in the wheel or your piece exploding in the kiln. There is always something that can go wrong so that is the one thing I am worried about. Other than that I am excited and not too worried about any bad happening. My mentor's name is Merly Hamilton and she opened the Artist outpost in 2018 with her sister-in-law Eryn. This experience is 1 in a lifetime and I am extremely excited to see how this will play into my life and interest in ceramics
